Where is Cabo San Lucas exactly? San Cabo San Lucas is located at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula. It’s about a 30-minute drive from San Jose Del Cabo, which is a city nearest to the SJD International airport. Los Cabos is the municipality which includes both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. It is also how people commonly refer to the region when they are talking about both cities. The Corridor is the area between the two cities where you will find world-class golf courses and multi-million dollar homes and resorts.
Yes. Don’t lose your Exit Documents! When arriving in Mexico, you will be asked to fill out two forms. One is the entry and exit form and the other is the custom declaration form. The customs officer will give you back an Exit Form so be sure to keep it in a safe place as you will need it when you leave the country. If you lose it, a fine will be assessed.
After you pass customs but before you leave the airport, you will be greeted by many timeshare reps who are eager to help you get to your hotel. Some may even sound like legitimate airport staff trying to help you connect to your ride to the hotel. Unless you are interested in learning more about timeshare, it’s best to say thank you and continue to walk out to the exit.
About 30 minutes by freeway. There is a toll of 27 pesos (roughly $1.50) each way.
There are plenty of taxis at the airport and also downtown Cabo. Private Taxi service going to and from the airport to Cabo San Lucas ranges from $50-$120. Shuttle service is around $12- $20 per person and makes multiple hotel stops. Once you have booked with us, we will give you recommendations on airport transportation.
Taxi rides from downtown to your hotel in Cabo San Lucas generally is around $10-$20. Hacienda’s concierge service can also provide a private car for you. Prices and more details are provided once your confirmation is confirmed.
Something can always happen but we have rented cars countless times in Cabo and they have always been very pleasant experiences. However, if some rental rates online appear very low and look too good to be true, they are! There is a local mandatory insurance that they HAVE to add on, making the total rental price comparable to the rates in the US. Therefore, always expect to pay more than what you see online when you book a rental car.
Unlike other Mexican destinations, Cabo San Lucas is a comparatively safe place to visit simply because there are millions of dollars pouring into this little town, and the government understands the importance of tourism and the benefits it brings to the country. There is a special group of law enforcement called “Policia Turistica” that are there to help with tourists navigate safely through Cabo. Yet, like any city, you should ask the Hacienda Concierge or front desk what areas are considered unsafe and avoid them.
If you have a sensitive stomach, always ask for bottled water to be safe and don’t take your chances consuming beverages with ice that is not made from purified water.
US dollars are accepted almost everywhere. There is really no need to convert money into pesos. There are ATMs around the marina that allow you to withdraw dollars specifically. If you have to withdraw a large sum of money, it would be better to go to ATMs from known banks or actually go to the branch to withdraw. Some vendors will charge slightly higher exchange rates if you prefer to pay in dollars but it’s insignificant unless you are buying big ticket items, in which it’s better to use a credit card for protection. Most restaurants and shops accept credit cards as well.
Cabo is a serious place for people who want to get tanned. So depending on the level of darkness you wish to achieve, bring proper sunscreen or rashguard garments to protect yourself against sun damage. As sunscreens may be toxic to corals and marine life, we recommend rashguards for full body protection.
We really don’t think so. A big part of Cabo is very “Americanized” in which most restaurants and tourist areas are filled with people who are fluent in English. If you miss home, you can even visit Costco, Walmart or Home Depot.
We recommend:
**Avoid swimming on the Pacific side of the ocean, Lover’s Beach or Divorce Beach since the waves are unpredictable, dangerous and can sometimes be fatal.
